what this downloader does
This page is the front door to the Sound Cache app, not a web converter. When you paste a link, your browser asks TikTok's public embed service which sound the post uses. The page then hands that sound to the Sound Cache app on your Mac. The app downloads the audio and files it in your own folder, tagged with the title, the artist, the artwork and a transcript.
Because it follows the post back to its sound, you get the sound itself, not the few seconds a video happened to use. If the app is not installed, the page gives you a small .soundpack.json file to import later.
what you need
- A Mac. The app runs on macOS today. There is no Windows, Android or web version.
- The Sound Cache app. It is free and open source. Get it here.
- A TikTok session in the app. TikTok only serves a sound's audio to a logged-in browser, so the app asks you to connect TikTok once. The login stays on your Mac and is never uploaded.
- Optional: your iPhone. Pair it once and "Save to Sound Cache" appears in TikTok's share sheet, so you can save without copying links at all.

Paste-a-link sites such as ssstik.io and tikup.me do a different job, and for some people they are the better choice. Checked September 2026:

Pick a web downloader if you need one file, now, on a phone or a computer that is not a Mac. Pick Sound Cache if you save sounds every week and want to find them again: it keeps each one as a named, tagged file in a folder you own, and it can search what is said in a sound, not only its title.

why not just favorite the sound?
TikTok's own "add to Favorites" is free and built in. But a favorite is a bookmark on TikTok's servers, not a file. When the original post is deleted, claimed or made private, the favorite goes grey and the sound is gone. We explain the causes in why tiktok sounds disappear.
what you can do with the audio
Having the file does not give you the rights to it. A saved sound is fine for reference, for planning an edit, and for using back inside TikTok. Re-uploading it, monetizing it or putting it in client work is a separate question, and the answer depends on who owns the sound.
